Identity-First Language (IFL)

Frames disability as an inherent part of a person’s experience of the world and acknowledges that truly seeing a person means seeing the totality of their experience; it incorporates disability into identity, characterizing it as a valuable aspect of self rather than as something bad that needs to be isolated and fixed.
