The world’s understanding of neurodivergence has changed a LOT very recently. And it keeps changing, because neurodivergence is such a big, complex topic. The most important thing to learn is that how it feels inside to be neurodivergent is more important than what other people can see from the outside.

One way we can show that we care about the way it feels to be neurodivergent is to change the words we use to talk about it. When we use positive language, we help all people to know that neurodivergent needs are as important as neurotypical ones. To learn about neuro-affirming language – language that uses positive words to talk about different neurotypes – you can start with our helpful Language Guide.

We are developing Quick Start Guides with the key information that you need as a starting point. We will  include trusted sources and relevant links so that you know where to go for more information when you’re ready for it.
